Fuel Cell Industry Gains Traction
As a result of the increased attention, the global fuel cell industry is on an upward trajectory on multiple fronts, as pointed out in several recently released reports. Advisory firm Lux Research forecasts global commercial sales of fuel cells will reach $1.8 billion in 2012, driven primarily by applications in residential combined heat and power systems and distributed generation deployments.

Air Products' mobile hydrogen fueler technology is based at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, New Jersey for two days with good reason. It is fueling the hydrogen powered fuel cell vehicles of multiple automakers venturing into New York City and for an event at the Liberty Science Center tomorrow as part of the national Hydrogen Tour '08, which is designed to demonstrate that hydrogen vehicle and fueling technologies are approaching commercial availability.

Nissan Next Generation Fuel Cell Stack
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has developed a new fuel cell stack with double the power density of the previous generation stack. The new fuel cell stack also achieves a 35% cost reduction mainly due to half the use of platinum, a key material used in the production of fuel cell stacks. Test fleets incorporating the improved fuel cell stacks will be operational by the end of this year.
