Ultrasonic Systems, Inc. (USI) manufactures high performance precision coating systems for fuel cell development and manufacturing based on patented nozzle-less coating technology. The Prism Coating System offers fuel cell manufacturers an industry proven method for the precise, thin film application of catalyst inks and other electrolyte materials.
The optional PMP-100 Precision Metering Pump contains an integrated stirring mechanism to keep suspensions and slurries properly mixed. All parameters are set with the Prism software.
The Prism platform, featuring proprietary ultrasonic coating and liquid handling technology, has been utilized by customers for the successful spray application of a variety of materials including:
• Solvent based catalyst inks containing platinum, carbon and Nafion
• Slurries containing ceramic, nickel and binding agents
• Other proprietary electrolyte coatings
USI has worked on hundreds of PEM, DMFC and SOFC fuel cell applications for companies and government labs around the globe. Our experience, along with the critical input and feedback from our customers, has led to the development of hardware and software features specific to their needs in both an R&D environment as well as full-scale volume production.
